There’s a new butcher on the block - and we do things differently. Really. At The Very Good Butchers, we believe in butchering beans, not animals.
We’re a plant-based butchery making meats from beans, veggies, and herbs and spices. By using whole foods, we believe we can raise the plant-based bar to produce approachable, delicious and nutritious vegan meats for people, animals and the planet (while having a little fun along the way).
Our product line ranges from burgers to taco stuffer, and everything in between. Our Big Box of (Plant-Based) Meat is our best-seller and includes the staples for 28+ delicious whole-food meals to feed your family. Don't forget to stop by during the holidays as our Stuffed and Roast Beast are a great addition to any festive table.
A bajillion butchered beans, a Dragon’s Den appearance, 15 new products, and the opening of a production facility (with 2 more on the way) later (all in 3 years!), our (not so) little Butcher Shop is online and ready to put some Very Good food on your table.

Meet the Co-Founding Bean Butchers
Mitchell Scott
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Mitchell joined The Very Good Butchers shortly after their first summer at the Denman Farmer's Market. He grew up on Denman Island and now lives in Victoria B.C. He's responsible for the business operations and marketing of The Very Good Butchers.
James Davison
Co-Founder & Chief Research and Development Officer
James has been a chef for over 10 years, working in the UK and Canada. Originally trained in classic French cuisine, he became interested in vegetarian and vegan cooking when he moved to the West Coast in 2012. James oversees product and menu development for The Very Good Butchers.
