Update Friday, April 17: In order for our production facility to meet overwhelming demand in a safe and reliable way, our processing time has been delayed. New orders placed today will have a processing time of 3 to 4 weeks. We are working as hard and fast as possible to get every order out as soon as possible. To ensure the health and safety of our team, our customers, and our community, we are taking extra precautions at our Butcher Shop as well as for the production and delivery of our products in light of the rapidly changing COVID-19 developments.
Close to a year ago, we moved our plant-based meat production to a dedicated facility just down the road from our Butcher Shop in Victoria, BC. This means that we can continue producing our Very Good meats in a controlled, dedicated environment.
We recently had (and passed) our HACCP audit, an international standard defining the requirements for effective control of food safety and follow the highest recommended standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, we’ve taken some additional precautions at this facility including:
- Additional hand-washing protocols for all team members
- Temporarily suspending all non-essential visitors to the production facility
Additional sanitation/cleaning crew brought in every night for a full sanitation/clean of the facility
During such uncertain times, we think it’s more important than ever to continue providing a safe, local supply of plant-based protein to help feed our community.
Currently, our online store is running as normal. Orders are prepared and fulfilled from our production facility and shipped across Canada and the United States via Canada Post and DHL, respectively. We also offer a local pick-up option from our Victoria Butcher Shop at no extra charge. The utmost care is taken to provide a sanitary environment when packaging, shipping out or delivering orders.
We are also introducing a contactless drop off for any residents in the Greater Victoria area. To take advantage of this, simply place a local pick up order on our website then respond to the purchase confirmation email requesting that you’d like a local delivery providing the delivery address, ideal delivery time, and a contact phone/cell number that we can text when we make the delivery. Your order will be left at your doorstep with ice packs and we will text you so you can retrieve it.
With Easter a month away, our holiday order cut-offs fall within the next few weeks depending on location:
- BC, Alberta, and the US: Order on or before April 5
- Other provinces and territories: Order on or before March 29

Our Butcher Shop in the Victoria Public Market is open for takeout orders only. Orders can be placed in-person, over the phone, and online through SkipTheDishes and Uber Eats. We are currently operating on the following reduced hours:
- 11am-3pm Monday-Friday
- Closed Saturday and Sunday
In addition, we’ve implemented health and safety precautions including:
- Increased sanitization procedures (wipedowns of deli cases, counter, card machine etc. every 15-20 mins)
- Increased handwashing and glove wearing by team members
- Accepting card payments only - no cash
- Making cutlery and condiments available by request only instead of self-serve
We are closely monitoring the situation and will be updating our operating hours/services offered as appropriate.
