We’re Building a Bigger Bean Butchery and Need Your Help!

Hi Everyone,

Over the past couple months, we have been up to exciting things and want to tell you all about them!

As many of you know, we opened our doors in the Victoria Public Market on February 25, 2017. We are the first Vegan Butcher Shop in Western Canada and the response since opening has been overwhelming!

We’ve had a ton of demand for our product from all across North America (and especially Vancouver). Since our open, we’ve been struggling to produce enough tasty plant based meat and have been looking for a way to scale up.

To do this, we’ve decided to launch a Kickstarter to help fund our dreams and bring everyone more of our plant based meats.

Here's what we're hoping to accomplish with our Kickstarter:

1) Increase Production - We need new equipment to help increase production as well as hire and train a few new bean butchers.

2) Develop New Products - This means, a lot of time spent tinkering, refining, and acquiring new special ingredients and equipment.

3) Food Truck/Cart - We want to take this show on the road! Having a dedicated food truck/cart would allow us to attend festivals, markets, and events all across B.C. and maybe beyond!

4) Expanded Distribution - We would love to stock our products in small local businesses close to you. In order to do this we need your help to bring our cost of production down and buy our ingredients in larger quantities.

5) Very Good Vancouver Shop - Our next big dream is to open a Vegan Butcher Shop in Vancouver. We've had a huge amount of interest and demand and want to open up shop there in the not too distant future, Vancouver we’re coming for you!

Our objective at The Very Good Butchers has always been to produce organic, wholesome, real food without tricks or gimmicks. We want to make healthy planet friendly meat alternatives that are accessible to omnivores, vegetarians, vegans, and everyone in between. We need your help to help to take things to the next level.

  • Everyone’s palate is different, but to address one of the comments above, I haven’t found any Very Good Butchers product to be particularly salty. And I’m a recovering salt-o-holic who no longer adds salt to my meals. I find the level of salt in the Very Good Butchers products to be perfect, for what its worth.

  • I have recently shopped at your location in Victoria B.C and have bought and ordered from your menu items.Eating healthier is one’s option and opinion.I find all of your food very salty to where I have spat it out my husband say’s its salty also I have brought other family member’s and friends there and they also say it is overly salty tasting.Now I’m just saying eating healthier is a choice but all that SALT you use causes High Blood Pressure when it is suppose to Lower Blood Pressure.Can you PLEASE incorporate natural herbs and Spices for flavoring.I myself have made a choice Not to eat at your location or any other because of this matter.Please testing of your food befour it goes out to the public is very Important.Thank You for reading this.Please don’t get offended.If you do change your practice on incorporating Natural herbs and spices Rather then pour Salt for Flavoring I will certainly be back.
